Class Reps
Class Reps are the friendly connection point between parents, teachers and the CCPA — helping each grade feel welcome and informed.
What Class Reps do
They welcome new families, share teacher-approved information, encourage connection within grades, organise light social moments and point questions to the right channel.
What Class Reps aren't
They’re not complaint handlers, mediators, school administrators, on-call assistants or decision-makers for the school. They’re volunteers building community.
Reps who connect
Our reps get together every term — usually with snacks and a glass of wine — to connect beyond the functional side of the role. Each meet-up often has an activity, led by a parent in the group.
We’ve enjoyed a Paint & Sip, a Crochet night, and a DIY night — all run by talented Cannons parents sharing what they love.
Volunteers who feel connected to one another build stronger parent communities — that’s the whole idea.
The thrift rail
At our get-togethers we run a thrift rail: everyone donates an item, and any item can be bought for just R50. It’s a fun way to refresh your wardrobe — and all proceeds go straight into the CCPA fund to support the school community.
Class Rep initiatives
Some of the CCPA’s most practical projects are run by the Class Rep portfolio.
👕 Second-Hand Uniform Shop
A Class Rep initiative giving good-quality uniforms another life — more affordable for families, less waste. Parents can sign up for shop-duty on the volunteer roster; just contact Sarah to join.
☕ Buzz Boyz Coffee Truck
Another Class Rep-supported initiative — the Buzz Boyz coffee truck brings great coffee (and weekly specials) to the Cannons community, with the CCPA helping on branding and promotion.
The WhatsApp Code of Conduct
Grade WhatsApp groups work best when they stay useful, respectful and practical — for sharing helpful information rather than complaints or emotionally charged discussion. A short code of conduct keeps every group friendly and easy to follow.
